TOY AND MINIATURE POODLES

DESCRIPTION: Poodles are proud and
dignified. They were breed for their
intelligence. They are easy to trained.
COLORS / COATS : Poodles can be any
color. Only solid colors are recognized by
the American Kennel Club. Their coats are
harsh and dense. They should be brushed
at least twice a week to keep their hair
from matting and should be clipped every
two months.
HEIGHT: Standard: Must be over 15 inches
at the withers. (The
highest point of the shoulders.)
Miniature: Under 15 inches and over 11
inches.
Toy: It must be under 11 inches.
WEIGHT: Standard: forty five to seventy
pounds
Miniature: fifteen to twenty pounds
AKC Toy: four to eight pounds
The AKC does not class the Tiny Toy or
Teacup as separate classes. Tiny
Toys are from four to six pounds.
Teacups are from two to four pounds.
TEMPERAMENT: Poodles are a good
tempered breed making them an ideal
family pet. They are devoted and
affectionate with their owners. Toys can be
shy around strangers. Caution should be
used in buying a Tiny Toy or Teacup as with
any tiny breed if you have very young
children in the home as they are fragile.
HEALTH CONCERNS: Miniature and Toy
Poodles are susceptible to epilepsy,ear
infections, eye disease, the Toy is also
susceptible to diabetes and patella lunation
(slipping kneecaps).
LIFE EXPECTANCY: Miniature thirteen to
fifteen years
Toy twelve to fourteen years
